Pateley Bridge and Bewerley are in an idyllic rural setting that provides a perfect location for the floral displays which have become a renowned attraction of the area.

The towns first entered the Regional Britain in Bloom Competition in 1976 and success came with a joint win in 1981.

This then enabled us to represent England in the large village category European Entrente Florale in 1982, winning against five other countries.

With progress we have reached a high position again, though owing to an increase in population, we are now classed in the Small Country Town Category.

Having been winners of the regional Yorkshire and Humberside in Bloom competition in 1999, the town was selected for the National finals in 2000, where it won first place.

In 2001 it once again won the regional competition and has again been chosen to represent the region in the 2002 National competition.

The whole community is now involved with an enthusiastic committee, and representations from the local council, chamber of trade, local businesses, hotels, schools, churches, institutes, clubs, Guides, Brownies, Scouts and business sponsors.

The magnificent Band Stand was built in 1998 in less than a week as a Yorkshire TV action time challenge. This involved the whole community including the local armed forces.

This gives an added attraction to tourism and during the summer, bands use it most Sunday afternoons.

We are very fortunate to have help with the main flower beds  courtesy of Harrogate Borough Council, who are the team leaders.  Darley have been winners of the small village competition for six years in the last decade and are currently being joined in Harrogate Borough by Pateley Bridge.

In Spring the B6165 approach road has a mile long line of golden Daffodils, welcoming visitors to this compact, happy, picturesque, country town that many celebrities have made their home. Whatever the time of year Nidderdale always delights visitors with its lush spectacular scenery.
